White House Announces Lifting of Travel Restrictions on 33 Countries

This week, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Jeff Zients announced that the US will resume accepting fully vaccinated air travelers of 33 countries. The announcement is part of the White House’s effort to ease pandemic-related restrictions this coming November. Ex-president Donald Trump ordered the travel restriction in 2020 but without fully providing conditions on how and when the ban will be lifted.

The list of countries to which the US will reopen for vaccinae supporting countries mies like Italy, France, Greece, Germany, Switzerland and Spain, as well as Britain, Ireland, China, Iran, Brazil, India, and South Africa. The past restrictions have forced these countries to institute counter travel restrictions on vaccinated U.S. air travelers visiting their respective countries.

The announcement though was a surprise since Pres. Biden previously declared that it’s still not the best time to lift travel restrictions, as the coronavirus cases across the globe are still on the rise.

Travel Advisory Announcements Included Extended Restriction Bans on Land Borders

The White House announcements included advisory that the U.S. has lengthened the duration of pandemic-related restrictions for non-essential tourists entering the US via the land-borders of Mexico and Canada/ The extension will be in effect up to October 21, 2021 The land border extension did not specify if the extended restriction applies to fully vaccinated tourists who entering the aforementioned borders.
